At Radio Cabs in Christchurch, the front office windows face south west – during the spring and summer months heat and glare from the sun cause several real problems for the staff coordinating the taxi drivers. Excessive heat, fatigue, eye strain from computer screen glare and because of this, potential loss of productivity.
Technical Window Films went to visit Radio Cabs managing director, Christopher Culleton, at the office in Bargates, Christchurch. We carried out our survey to identify the glazing system and understand the issues in hand in order to make our recommendations for remedying the problems. One of the important factors in choosing a suitable product was that it had to allow the customers to see that the office was open and allow the staff to view out to see when cars and customers arrived.
LLumar medium neutral N1040 SR CDF film was selected and installed to all the front facing windows for these main characteristics:
- Reduces solar heat gain from the sun by 54%
- Reduces annoying glare by 55%
- Screens 99.9% of harmful UVA & UVB
- It has a light, neutral tint that you can still see through
The vast reduction in heat and glare now makes the Christchurch Radio Cabs office a far more comfortable working environment for all of the staff. It is now so much cooler and more shaded on sunny days. The glare is now managed to a level where eye strain and fatigue are significantly reduced. The air conditioning unit is no longer required so they have reduced their energy costs too.
“The difference to the Radio Cabs controller’s office that Technical Window Films have made by installing the LLumar window tint is really impressive” said Chris Culleton, Managing Director at Christchurch Radio Cabs, “…the heat and glare from the sun have been dramatically reduced and the staff are able to work more productively in a more comfortable environment”.
